Always looking for ways to improve operability, Olympus has developed a cutting-edge technology which is employed on EVIS EXERA III bronchoscopes. The insertion tube rotation function allows the bronchoscopist to change the insertion tube’s angle of approach by rotating a ring on the control section. This function enhances maneuverability and improves diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, especially when trying to reach a target in the lung periphery.
Furthermore, this function allows the examiner to bring the bronchoscope’s biopsy port to a position easy to access for the endoscopy assistant, without movement of the distal tip of the bronchoscope. Thus, sampling can be done with ease, in less time, and in better control of the sampling devices.
Smoother Insertion and Less Tiring Maneuvring
The insertion tube rotation function allows the examiner to bring back the bronchoscope handle to a more comfortable position, without movement of the distal tip of the bronchoscope. Thus, bronchoscopy can be done with ease and less fatigue.

The operation of EndoTherapy devices involves both the bronchoscopist and assistant. The insertion tube rotation function can be used to adjust the instrument port to the most convenient and simple-to-reach position for the whole team.

Compared to its predecessors, the EVIS EXERA III series has a wider angulation range, allowing smoother insertion into the upper lobe bronchi and more of a bend in the scope with an inserted EndoTherapy device.
Outstanding Image Resolution
Imaging performance is driven by the endoscopy system (CV-190 video processor and CLV-190 light source) as well as by the image capture performance of the endoscopes, and the monitor displaying the image.
State-of-the-art image processing with very low levels of image noise is provided by the leading endoscopy system EVIS EXERA III.
For bronchoscopy, the age of HD image quality (image is captured in high-definition quality at the bronchial wall) has started with the introduction of the BF-H190 bronchoscope for standard diagnostic purposes and the BF-1TH190 bronchoscope with a larger working channel diameter for therapeutic interventions. All non-HD bronchoscopes of our top-line series are equipped with high-performance CCDs for enhanced imaging that marks a big step forward from their predecessors.
